Best Cat Skiing in BC
Reviews from fellow cat ski lovers
This place is amazing - staff was extremely kind and capable, the lodge is exactly what you want after a long day of skiing, the food is just under James Beard-level (compelling me to eat desert every night...), and the skiing is next level. Having done both this now and heli trips in a similar range, this is certainly waaay better bang for the buck while still providing the highest level of service.Everyday begins at 6am-ish with some cold goodies for your first breakfast, followed by a hot, tasty breakfast at 7:15am. Get ready in the heated and humidified ski room for an 8am departure. Spend the rest of the day until 2:45pm ripping fresh lines, eating amazing snack-ables prepared by the kitchen staff (Noah, in our case), and warming up in the back of the cat while Sky escorts you around the range.Finish up the day with a Kokanee at the base of the slopes, back to the lodge for apres ski, hot-tub, beers and spirits (BYOB), and stories before an amazing dinner. The lodge includes a cozy bar, living room area, and dining room with all the AV technology you need to have a dance party or watch a National Championship game.Everyone at the lodge and in this part of Canada is amazing - special shout out to Tom (one of the owners that skied with us for a day...), Christa (lodge Mom), Noah (chef for most meals), Steve (lead guide), Kyle & Toby (tail guides), and Sky (cat driver). - 1/29/2025

Was a guest at WG's gravel bike camp with Svein Tuft. Amazing riding location with so, so many great routes along lakes and rivers, with stunning glacier and valley views galore. Svein and the WG staff are all super friendly and safety-savvy. However, you may not shed weight despite burning so many calories riding—you'll eat like a king! Top notch operation through and through! - 8/05/2024

Look no further than the White Grizzly Cat Skiing Lodge for your next trip to the Kootenays in BC!!! Thanks to the absolutely AMAZING staff that makes this experience truly special. Upon arrival and throughout our stay at the lodge itself: Jaq, Sunshine, Victoria, Bree, Michele and Christa were all over the top and took good care of all 12 of us guests and staff in house. The food was absolutely delicious at the lodge, and during our days in the snowcat servicing their stunning tenure terrain. The accommodations, ambiance and location of the lodge cannot get any better!Kevin, Rowan and Mathi provided extremely professional guiding services keeping us safe, sharing their extensive knowledge and experience while enabling us to have fun and keep great group dynamics all at the same time!Travis was a very talented photographer that joined us on our second day. Great images all around and he even compiled a wonderful slideshow which will provide memories of the moments to come.A big shout out to Spencer, who if your lucky enough to get as your snowcat operator is the real deal! Spencer obviously loves the mountains, the historic culture of snowboarding, skiing and an enthusiastic no-boarder. He skillfully was able to navigate us safely and efficiently to maximize our skiing in the vast tenure. Thanks to all involved in the crew that put in the hard work keeping those roads in place, and the grooming going to provide that kind of access! Not to mention maintaining and keeping all those machines running mint!A big thank you once again to everyone at White Grizzly for making our trip the absolute best it could be! -Kevin- - 4/05/2024

We had an awesome stay with White Grizzly for our honeymoon! Everything with the trip was great, our room and the lodge was super cozy, the food from the chef was great, the staff super friendly and serviceminded, and the skiing, OMG! We were in luck with snowfall and had untracked powder in funny terrain everyday! The guides kept us skiing in safe terrain and with good control of the group. We had one snowboarder who didn’t really meet the requirements for going into the mountain and White Grizzly handled it really well to not slow everyone down. So thumbs up for everything, would really like to go back there again! - 3/12/2024

The day starts with a gourmet breakfast, quick overview of the day from the lead guide then time to get dressed and head out to the cat. Cat was staged 30-40 min away on this trip. Scenic drive! Once in the cat, you pretty quickly get up into the mountains. Most ski days started with a few lower angle cut-blocks to get warmed up, then we’d head either for the steep trees or the alpine. Amazing snow, amazing views! Photographer was fun to work with on Day 3. Guides are very knowledgeable, friendly, fun and seemed relaxed the whole time which made for a great team vibe. Once back at the lodge, you can expect an amazing appetizer, then enough time for a hot tub, stretch and then dinner, which was absolutely fantastic every night. Massages can be booked nearby, staff will shuttle you. Lodge is great for a group to hang out in during the evening, though by 10 everyone was heading to bed, getting stoked for more pow the next day. All staff from the guides, to kitchen staff, to managers and the cat driver were so welcoming, helpful and just made the trip amazing! - 3/12/2024

We just returned from an amazing week of cat skiing with White Grizzly. We had picked this operation because they were forthcoming that they offered a program geared towards steep tree skiing, which was exactly what we wanted. This truly meant that everyone on the trip was a great skier with an agenda to go skiing - resulting in a well matched group that quickly became family. While avalanche conditions didn't get us on exactly the terrain we had hoped for, the guides worked tirelessly to ensure that we were not only safe, but we got our powder fix. In addition to the awesome skiing, the whole team was just incredible. Our guides were a blast, and the food and lodge experience were top notch. The biggest shout out goes to Kyle, who was so game to not only get us out skiing great pow, but also lead the entire snowcat in a sing along to the Backstreet Boys for my birthday. One million stars out of 5! - 3/12/2024

We had an excellent time during our stay with White Grizzly! Even though the snow wasn't great throughout the province our guides were still able to find us fresh powder lines, which made our trip very memorable. Hats off to Jud, Kyle, Nolan, the chefs, and the rest of the WG team! - 3/12/2024

First time at White Grizzly, and what a great experience. The lodging, food and service exceeded expectations. Every meal was so fresh and good. Staff and guides worked very hard to manage the soggy, wet conditions in their ski terrain. It’s in a pretty remote area, which is great for skiing when the weather lines up. Thanks for a great trip. - 2/19/2024
