White Grizzly, based out of Meadow Creek, BC, is searching for a Chef/Professional cook.

At White Grizzly our chefs combine passion for food and cooking and are empowered to deliver a unique and memorable guest experience by delivering delicious cuisine in a timely and sanitary manner.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years culinary experience in a lodge or similar setting.
  • Level 1 food safe

Requirements and expectations:

  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Courteous, friendly, professional attitude
  • Detail oriented with multitasking ability and a strong work ethic required – both individually and in a team
  • Culinary expertise in various cooking techniques and cuisine
  • Able to lift 40lbs
  • Ability menu plan and monitor inventory
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Prepare all daily meals including breakfast, lunch, apres ski, dinner, dessert, snacks & baked goods
  • Prepare daily Menu/Weekly Menu
  • Coordinate daily tasks with kitchen team
  • Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment
  • Ensure that the preparation, production and presentation of food are always of the highest quality.
  • Maintain inventory of kitchen and food supplies
  • Maintain a clean and presentable kitchen
  • Be prepared to converse with guests in a professional manner

Mountain Operations Manager & Head Guide

White Grizzly, based out of Meadow Creek, BC, is searching for a Mountain Operations Manager & Head Guide.
Candidates for this position will be expected to:
  • Manage the entire White Grizzly guide team 
  • Be responsible for the mountain ski program
  • Be responsible all safety, both on and off mountain
  • Commit to a full-time guiding schedule
  • Hire new guides and schedule the winter season
  • Organise and run pre-season training
  • Be a leader and mentor for their guides team
  • Be responsible for planning and coordinating mountain and tenure development and maintenance, both on and off season
  • Coordinate and work in union with the lodge team to ensure a seamless guest experience
  • Liaise with the snowcat manager and mechanic to integrate snowcat operations into daily mountain operations
  • Be excited to work on future terrain and business expansion
Qualifications required:
  • CSGA Level 3 or ACMG Ski Guide or equivalent international standard
  • Mechanised ski operation experience
Compensation:
This is a year-round position and pay is based on experience and knowledge but we are keen to reward the right applicant with a very competitive wage. We believe that hard work must be well reciprocated. Alongside this we offer potential financial support for industry-related training. 
White Grizzly, The Position and The Future:
Based at the North end of Kootenay Lake our lodge is situated at valley bottom in the community of Meadow Creek. We are drive-in, drive-out and our ski tenure is located a 20 minute drive north of our staff and guest accommodation. 
Guide’s quarters are separate from the rest of the lodge and when on shift the applicant can expect their own large, top-floor en-suite bedroom, which allows for total privacy. The guide’s meeting room is very spacious with its own kitchen and lots of room to stretch and hang out. All meals are catered for while on shift.
White Grizzly has gone through a large period of growth and maturity over the past couple of years since new ownership took over. Huge amounts of work has been done to modernise the operation and greatly improve guest and staff experience and safety. We expect the applicant to continue to work with us on this journey as we aim to reach new heights and terrain in our tenure, while simultaneously endeavouring to maintain a premium level of safety and fun. Therefore; White Grizzly is seeking a long-term employee who is enthusiastic for the vision that ownership is building towards. With potential for a second snowcat along with a ski-touring program in future seasons, this is a dream opportunity for applicants who have a passion for running a mountain ski program, developing it and really putting their own mark on it.
