Winter is well underway but for us the preparation started in the Fall. We’ve worked hard on the Mountain and the Lodge to bring new terrain and new comfort to our guests. Historically White Grizzly snowcats rarely ventured above treeline, but since new ownership took the helm in 2021 we’ve focused on getting our guests to virgin corners of the tenure. Most of these new runs start above treeline and we can now ski all the way down to 1600m giving us much longer laps. We have big plans for further expansion starting this summer so stay tuned.

Not only that, we’ve renovated our bootroom and tripled the size of our kitchen to allow our staff much more room to work and create even better delicious meals.

Heavy snows in early December set us up for our first guests over the New Year and the smiles haven’t stopped since. February has really been epic, in just the past few days we’ve been blessed with 80cm (30”) of dry kootenay coldsmoke.

For the 2022/23 season we’ve brought in three new professional lead guides. Jonny, Jeremy and Kyle all live in the Kootenays and each brings their own enthusiasm, personality and charisma to White Grizzly… Oh and they rip…

Guests this year have flocked from all over the world. So far we’ve hosted Kiwis, Aussies, Belgians, Brits, Americans and of course Canadians! Its’ gives us great pleasure to show guests the true Kootenay experience; comfortable, beautiful, fun and a little bit quirky.

We’ve also had the pleasure of hiring a professional Photographer, Bex Dawkes on staff. Every group that skis with us has had Bex join them for a day. Working as a Catski Photographer is an awesome job but it comes with real challenges! Harsh conditions make handling gear a precise action and capturing skiers and riders in the trees of our terrain can be difficult… Luckily for us Bex is knocking it out the park!

Winter ain’t over yet, we have another month of operation before we call it a wrap on our season! Now is the time to lock in a booking for the 2023/24 season as seats fill up very quickly.

Wish you were here!
